Discover Shodo, a meditative calligraphy experience in a serene tea house
Experience the quiet beauty of Shodo, Japanese calligraphy, in the serene setting of Chosho-an, an intimate tea room at Yamazato. Guided by a master calligrapher, guests are invited to calm the mind and focus on each deliberate brushstroke, transforming ink and paper into a moment of mindfulness and artistic expression.
This private, English-language experience is offered exclusively to hotel guests in small groups. Each session concludes with your own calligraphy work presented as a traditional hanging scroll, along with a miniature calligraphy set to take home—an elegant reminder of a meditative moment in Japan.
You can enjoy this meditative calligraphy experience all year round on Mondays and Fridays starting at 10:30 / 13:00.
The Chosho-an tea room can be found on the 4th floor of the Okura Heritage Wing at Yamazato restaurant.
Please reserve your space at the tea ceremony at least 2 days in advance.
Shodo, the Japanese Calligraphy experience costs ¥38,000 per person (minimum one person), which includes consumption tax and a 15% service charge.
